Life is short, Be a Porn Star!

LipsSex is often misunderstood…kinda like my post title. :-) I just read a fascinating first hand article from a woman who’s noticed pornography-on-demand’s effect on men. And it’s not what you may expect.

She recounts that back in the day as pornography was exploding as a viable commercial industry and something people became proud of (!), there was a lot of worry that it would churn out sex crazed males. The outcome was as bleak as an over-hyped apocalyptic movie; rape and sexual domination would be everywhere! You couldn’t hold a man down from his unleashed appetite! Hide our mothers and daughters in the hills! The perv’s are coming to ravage our women!!!!

Well, as this woman noticed, it hasn’t happened quite that way. In fact, the opposite seems to have occured. Men have become so over-sexed that they have lost interest in *real women*. Whoa. Imagine that. The best quote in my opinion is here:

The reason to turn off the porn might become, to thoughtful people, not a moral one but, in a way, a physical- and emotional-health one; you might want to rethink your constant access to porn in the same way that, if you want to be an athlete, you rethink your smoking. The evidence is in: Greater supply of the stimulant equals diminished capacity.

It’s nice to read an article on this topic that’s not loaded down with religious or political mumbo. This woman’s common sense perspective here is refreshing and even encouraging.

The article is called the Porn Myth. Now go have fun.
