The End (of faith)
I’ve been the recipient of many book reviews recently. Several of my Christian friends have recommended books like, Walk On: The Spiritual Journey of U2, or Body Piercing Saved my Life, etc. These books good reads for anyone who’s grown up in the Christo-american culture. Their blunt observations can be eye opening and refreshing at the same time. However…
Still, most (if not all) of these kinds of books interact with the Christo-american faith with kid gloves. They don’t poke and prod with fundamental questions. I’ve recently read a book called “End of Faith” by Sam Harris. I found it intriguing and challenging. The author did a better job describing the consequences of one’s world views than many Christians I’ve read. How do we know what we think we know about God? Most people don’t ever ask or explore that question. SPOILER ALERT! He thinks the world would be a better place without faith in any kind of god..in case you didn’t figure that out already.
I’d be interesting in hearing anyone else’s thoughts on the book.
